I've been to many cities and been around Detroit for quite a while - this bar is the worst and is a "must not see" if you are planning a visit. The drinks are poor, they are often out of brand name bar liquors or will even substitute rail grade hoping that you won't notice. The bartenders are forgetful, sloppy and really showing their disregard for the patrons. Historically the "home" of the local country/westerners and the bears, but now the bar is trying to play to every LGBT niche in the area. They do bears, drag, leather, cowboy, dance... you name it. The bar recently underwent a renovation that has left it a confusing mix of themes trying to please everyone but failing completely. The restrooms don't work and are perpetually filthy. The small, cramped front bar is usually filled with the heavy smoking, noisy regulars and the back bar area feels like you are ingnored and in another completely different building. The bar is in a rapidly changing and dangerous neighborhood, even in Detroit. Numerous assaults and gay hazings have happened outside and INSIDE the bar. Go anywhere else is my suggestion.

Diamond Jim's has been around for many years and is the home bar for the Motor City Bears. Good drink prices and they have draft beer as well which is getting harder to find at gay bars. New large flat screen TV's and a video juke box are kind of cool. Two separate sides with one side having a large dance floor and big sound system and the other side has a large bar and seating. No cover charge and free parking.

Most times it is a mixed gay/lesbian crowd with the Lesbians taking over sometimes. Good karaoke on Sundays and Thursdays. Been recently remodeled, great dance floor for line dancing or CW, nice crowd on special events
