Rainbow Run/Walk - Ferndale

This is the 2nd year of the Ferndale "Rainbow Run" - an extremely fun filled 5k race. Those of us who did this race last year had a blast - it is soooo much fun! If you have never done a color run before – this is a great one to start out with – impossible not to have fun at this! The race is sponsored by the Ferndale Area Chamber of Commerce and presented by Garden Fresh Gourmet. The run/walk weaves through the streets of Ferndale and participants receive white t-shirts to wear and as you pass six different stations along the course, volunteers will throw a different colored non-toxic powdered paint at your shirt. By the end of the race, your t-shirt (and yes, other parts of your body) will be decorated with all six colors providing a colorful reminder of the event. The race is not timed - it's about the fun of the day. The intent of the race itself – besides having fun – is to celebrate diversity and inclusion and the race is coordinated with the many activities taking place during the Ferndale Pride weekend . All proceeds from the event go to three area non-profit organizations: - The Ferndale Community Foundation - Affirmations - Upstander, an anti-bullying program established by the Friendship Circle It’s fun, it’s different – and life is what you make of it – so get involved and have some fun! In 2012 the race sold out early and will likely do so again for 2013 - so sign up as soon as you can!
