reopening

They are now open again at joy road but only on Sunday nights and not sure that it is every Sunday or not. Went to the grand reopening and it was okay...not like it used to be. The bouncers were rude, the sound system was awful, first drink I had was awful, and there's no drinks allowed on the dancefloor, yet the bouncers and some bar staff were smoking inside (illegal in Michigan)

It has closed on Joy Road

Is moving to a MUCH smaller, dumper spot on Michigan Ave.

Best Dance Club in Detroit

Well, I'm turning 40 next month, but have been going to Backstreet for decades. It is as fun now as it was the first time I walked through the door. Yes, its in a bad area, but I have never felt unsafe or been harassed in any way. Great dance floor/lights/sound/music. Definitely hot guys.

ONLY Wednesdays and Saturdays!

A group of friends and I from out of town tried to go to Backstreet on a Friday... BAD IDEA. What isn't made clear to non-locals is that Backstreet is ONLY gay on Wednesday and Saturday... every other night it's a thug bar that is decidedly NOT gay friendly. We went back on a Wednesday (Christmas Eve) and actually got in. The strip mall where it's located is not just ghetto, it's downright scary, but once you get into the place, it's actually pretty cute. The DJ was great, and passed out CDs of his own mega-mixes of Lady GaGa as a treat to the crowd. The drinks were cheap, and the bartender had no problem helping himself and stepping out onto the dance-floor when there were no customers. My friends and I all had a try at one of the two stripper poles attached to the ceiling... a word the wise, they're greasier than they look.

Detroits most "trendy" clubb...

This bar is the most updated looking club. They have state of the art everything here. If you're looking for a flashy club with lots of "gay" dance music, some techno, lounge areas to die for, and drink prices that are...so so, then go here. You'll find a LOT of hot guys, very mixed crowd, and usually only good on Saturdays, although Wednesday is currently "COLLEGE NIGHT-FREE WITH COLLEGE ID." I would suggest Saturdays, just before midnight as the cover increases a few mins after midnight. 18 and up. It's better to bring a friend because it gets so busy, you might get bored not knowing anyone...ya never know. Hit someone up online before coming out. I've been going here for a few years.
