LGBT Detroit welcomes Rev. David A. Bullock at Talk Tuesday

LGBT Detroit welcomes Rev. David Alexander Bullock to the weekly community conversation Talk Tuesday on Tuesday, February 13, at 5:30 pm. The lecture occurs at 20025 Greenfield Rd in Detroit, MI. Rev. Bullock will address Homophobia within the African American community and how this causes hindrances to upcoming leaders. “We are thrilled to have such an influential ally as Rev. Bullock speak to an issue important to believers,” exclaims Curtis Lipscomb, executive director of LGBT Detroit. “As faith leader in metro Detroit, his unique position allows attention to this ongoing topic.” Rev. Bullock, a graduate of Morehouse College, received a Masters of Arts in Philosophy from Wayne State University in 2003. He has served as an adjunct college professor in Michigan and Illinois and as the past President of the Highland Park NAACP. He is a former President of the Detroit Chapter of the Operation Rainbow Push and the State of Michigan Coordinator. He is nationally recognized as a key organizer of the successful campaign to repeal the Controversial Emergency Manager Law PA4. He is currently the Pastor of the Greater St. Matthew Baptist Church in Highland Park, Michigan and talk show host of The David Bullock Show on 910 AM Superstation. Black History Month began as “Negro History Week,” which was created in 1926 by Carter G. Woodson, a noted African American historian, scholar, educator, and publisher. It became a month-long celebration in 1976. The month of February was chosen to coincide with the birthdays of Frederick Douglass and Abraham Lincoln.
